Bernard L. Sims, 64, of North Road 850E, died at 8:33 a.m. Tuesday at Bartholomew County Hospital emergency room from injuries in a limousine and school bus accident at 10th Street and McClure Road.

He retired from Cummins Engine Company and had worked for 2 1/2 years as a chauffeur with Sweaney-Olds-Cadillac-Subaru Inc. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday by Myers Funeral Service at their Reed and Jewell Chapel, where calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born May 5, 1926, in Grammer, Sims was the son of Ray C. and Helen Dinkins Sims. He married Ruby E. Myers on March 23, 1947. She survives.

Also surviving are sons, Ray C. and Randy Sims, both of Columbus and Bernard Scott Sims of Hope; a daughter, Christie Sims of Columbus; sisters, Martha Jane Applegate and Jeanette Bowles, both of Columbus; a brother, Kenneth Sims of St. Louis Crossing; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Sims.
