PROMINENT BRENHAM MERCHANT DIES HERE

Ernest Hermann, 84, of 405 N. Cottonwood St., head of the Hermann Furniture Co., died at the family residence Sunday at 5 a.m.

Funeral services were to be held at the Brenham Memorial Chapel Monday at 3 p.m. with Father J.E. Scott and Father Floyd Biel officiating. Burial was to be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Styles Schmid Hermann of Brenham; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Arthur Hermann Sr. of Yoakum and Mrs. Will Hermann of brenham; the following neice and nephews; Mrs. Rosemary Driver of Yoakum, Dr. Wilfred Louwien of Richardson, Tom Wheat of Houston, Arthur Hermann Jr. of Yoakum, Alfred Hermann of Brenham and Dr. R. C. Hermann of Taylor; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Pall beareres were Owen Maddox, Buddy Wood, Ernest Schleider, Jack Ireland, Joe Cole, P.J. Lemm, Harold Pflughaupt, George Booth, and Julius Fischer. All friends of the family were considered honorary pallbearers.

Born in Brenham, Texas Oct. 30, 1886, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Hermann, he was educated in Professor Klarners College of Brenham.

He was married the first time to Miss Helen Oakey and she preceded him in death. He was married the second time to Mrs. Laura Styles Schmid Jan. 12, 1952 in St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Brenham.

A member of the Elks Club, Mr. Hermann was an honorary member of the Brenham Fire Department and was elected chief of the Brenham Fire Department on July 16, 1925 through December 1936.

Mr. Hermann started the Junior King and Queen parade and court in 1927.

For many years he was in the funeral business in Brenham and was a director of the Brenham Cemetery Association for many years.
