"Davis, Clara (Oct. 1858 - July 1950)
"Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Davis, 91, who died at a Duluth hospital following a stroke were held here Saturday afternoon, at the Zink Funeral Home. The Rev. William Knobloch of the Presbyterian church was the officiating minister. Eastern Star rites were also conducted. During the services Miss Darlene Pascoe, accompanied by Mrs. F. B. Wing, sang "Good Night and Good Morning," and "The Peace That My Savior Has Given." Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. Pallbearers were F. B. Wing, Charles Hoffman, Charles Boyer, Leo Banditt, George Kelsey and Kenneth Ingersoll. The flowers were in charge of the Eastern Star ladies.
"Mrs. Davis was born Clara Hull, near Fond du Lac, in October, 1858, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hull.
"In 1871, Mr. and Mrs. Hull and family came from Oakfield, and spent the winter here as Mr. Hull was a blacksmith. There was no railroad here at that time and the family lived in a tent during the winter. They went back to Oakfield and returned here in 1872 and settled on a homestead in the town of Holton.
"in 1876 she and Charles Ouimette were married at the Hull home. Mr. Ouimette was a farmer, teacher and held various town offices during his life. Mrs. Ouimette was a talented singer and musician and gave freely of her time in entertaining at the social gatherings in those days. Mr. Ouimette died after the family was grown and later Mrs. Ouimette married Al Davis, who also preceded her in death.
"Surviving their mother are nine children, Will Ouimette, Park Falls; Mrs. Ouida Tracey, Duluth, Minn.; Mrs. Nelly Bushay, Spooner; Mrs. Lillis Johnson and Mrs. May Feguson, Minneapolis,; Mrs. Jane Cramer and Nelson Ouimette of California; Floyd Ouimette, Flint, Mich.; and Charles Ouimette, Tomahawk.
"George and Victor Ouimette and a two year old brother, Grover Cleveland Ouimette, are deceased.
"Mrs. Levi Rice, 94, Wakefield, Mich., and a brother, Charles Hull, also survive their sister.
"Among the children who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Ouimette, Park Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Bushay, Spooner; Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson, Minneapolis; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ouimette, Tomahawk. There were also many of the grand children and great grand children here for the funeral."
