Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. Mary's Cathedral for Charles Arthur Moeglein, 94, who died Monday. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday (TODAY) at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and after 9:00am Thursday at the Church in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be at 7:00pm, Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Oelrich will officiate. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls.

Charles Moeglein was born on March 14, 1917 in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Charles J. and Olga N. (Holmstrom) Moeglein. He married Agnes K. Dullinger on February 9, 1942 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Holdingford. Agnes preceded Charles in death on March 3, 1997.

Charles was in the U.S. navy from 1936 until 1940, serving in the Pacific on the Battleship the USS West Virginia. During World War II he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine as a Helmsman on the SS Lincoln Stevens carrying troops, munitions and supplies from Algiers, Africa to Italy (Anzio and Salern), to Sicily and to France.

Charles worked in the grocery business as a meat cutter for most of his life. He worked at the Moeglein Meat Market in Little Falls, then in St. Cloud for Carl's Supermarket, National Tea, Piggly Wiggly, the Sanitary Market, St. Cloud Locker Plant and Appert's. Charles retired in 1977.

He received the Diocesan medal of Merit from the Most Rev. Jerome Hanus, OSB, Bishop of the St. Cloud Diocese, on February 9, 1992. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish where he sang in the choir, ushered, and was an Eucharistic minister and greeter. Charles was a member of the Crosier Apostolate and the American Legion.

Charles is survived by his sons, Rev. James, OSC, Onamia; Thomas (Lois) of Ogden, UT; and daughter, Mary (Griff) Duke of Elk River; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; daughter, Kathryn; grandson, Scott; brothers and sisters, Cyril, Ruth, Chester, Delores, Bernard, Robert and Donald.
