Esther Piatz, age 90, of Sanborn, ND, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 9th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Funeral Home and one hour before the services at the church on Thursday evening and Friday morning. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sanborn, ND.

Esther Amanda Myhre was born February 1, 1921 at Sanborn, ND the daughter of Nels and Margaret (Heggeseth) Myhre. She was raised and educated in Sanborn and graduated from Sanborn High School. She married Casper W. Piatz on February 9, 1939 in Valley City. They farmed in the Sanborn and Litchville area until 1963. They owned and operated Piatz's Bar in Sanborn until 1973. In 1974 they built a house in Sanborn. Esther enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, fishing and camping.

Survivors are three sons, John (Janice) Piatz, Sanborn; George (Rochelle) Piatz, Valley City; Bernard (Janice) Piatz, Cooperstown; two daughters, Margaret (Rudy) Pelzman, Ada, MN and Karen (Vernon) Aus, Sanborn; 26 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two daughters, Marlene Dahl and Bonnie Hare; a son-in-law Morris Dahl; a grandson, Dallas Piatz; and two infant grandchildren, Lisa Piatz and Michael Aus; four sisters and one brother, two infant sisters and one infant brother.
