He was born in Ohio December 8, 1857 and was brought to Indiana by his parents when he was six years old. He had resided on his present farm for 39 years.
His first marriage to Catherine Baurs took place December 18, 1881. She died October 10, 1899. He was married on October 15, 1904 to Emaline Hoover at Wakarusa.
Surviving are his wife, seven children, Mrs Lloyd Stickle and Mrs Vern Stickle, both of Elkhart, Edward Wise and Mrs Vern Stahly, both of Nappanee, Mrs Alvin Bollinger and Mrs Dwight Stickle both of Osceola, and Irvin Wise at home; a brother, Noah Wise, two half brothers, Chris Wise and Oliver Wise, both of Wakarusa, a half sister, Mrs. Leander Miller, of near Wakarusa, three step children, John Hoover of Nappanee, Mrs Alfred Brechtel, of Bremen, and Mrs Lewis Shively, of New York, 28 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 pm Friday at the Union Center Church. The Rev David Miller and John Fredericks officiated. Burial was made in Olive cemetery, North of Wakarusa.
