John William Cole age 93, passed away Saturday May 3, 2014 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an extended illness. Funeral services will held at 11am Tuesday May 6, 2014 at The Turbeville Southern Methodist Church with burial in the Thomas Cemetery near Olanta, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Monday (tonight) at the funeral home.

Born in Clarendon County he was a son of the late John Gilbert Cole and Eunice Rush Cole.

Mr. Cole was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran, a member of the Ruritans, American Legion, The Gideons Association, former President of Sumter Dairies, Charter member of The Turbeville Southern Methodist Church, Board of Stewards, former Trustee, choir, and Sunday School teacher. He was a retired farmer and formerly employed with East Clarendon Insurance Agency.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Stella Rivers Cole; one daughter, Carol Ann Cole; one brother, Julian Ingram Cole.
