ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Mrs. Lula Ballance Austin, 89, died Friday, Nov. 3, 1972 at 6:25 a.m. in a Rocky Mount hospital.
A native of Hatteras, she was a daughter of Bascom B. and Mrs. Dorcas Gaskins Ballance and the widow of Willie H. Austin.
She is survived by a son, Floyd H. Austin of Oriental; a daughter, Mrs. Lola A. Burrus of Elizabeth City; a brother, Cecil Ballance; a sister, Mrs. Ursa Stowe, both of Hatteras; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. in Twiford Island Chapel in Hatteras. Burial will be in the Ballance family cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Ursa Stowe.
