Sept. 7.--Our community was shocked on last Sunday when a message came that James Stewart was lying at the point of death. He had left his home here on the Tuesday previous, in his usual health to make a visit in Poland and attend the Stewart reunion which was held Wednesday at the home of his brother, Alexander Stewart. He visited among relatives and friends until Saturday when he was stricken by paralysis and died Monday evening, September 1, at the home of his
granddaughter, Mrs. George Moore. Mr. Stewart was nearly eighty-one years of age and soon after coming to this place, over forty years ago, he and his wife united with the Disciple church and he was ever a most conscientious and earnest Christian. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.C. Cushman Wednesday at 2 o'clock at his former home, and he was laid to rest in the little churchyard by the side of his wife, who died six years ago. Mr. Stewart leaves four children, Mrs. McFarland of New Castle, Pa., O.P. Stewart and Mrs. John Olmstead, of Conneaut, and Mrs. B. J. Akerley, who with her husband, lives on the home place and cared for her father. The family desire to thank neighbors and friends for their kind assistance, and choir for the beautiful music rendered.
