The following is from the obituary published in the Valley Morning Star on March 22, 1956:
"He was employed by the Kirkwood Drilling company of Alice, and was working on a well west of Raymondville at the time of his death. Survivors include: his wife, the former Eva May Hughes; one daughter, Dorothy Marie; two sons, George Frank and James Duren; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Shanks of Woodson, Tex., Mrs. Gertie Bonner, Santa Fe, NM, Mrs. Virgie Shippey, Calif., and Mrs. Eva Richardson, Lasara; five brothers, Andrew of Hunt County, Texas, Frank and Howard of Moab, Utah, James, Fort Worth, Sanderson of Gardner. Kansas. "
