Birth Certificate of daughter Gertrude, Altenessen No 511. On the 27th August 1879, in Altenessen, Germany, the miner Bernhard Bierbrodt, Catholic, appeared. He said that his wife, Huberta Theresia Bierbrodt, born Zerres, Catholic, resident with him at his flat, gave birth 24 August 1879 at about 5:00 in the afternoon a female child named Gertrud.

Death Registration C. Nr , 6 Friedrich Bierbrodt appeared to report the death of Gertrude Bierbrodt, born Schaper, belonging to the Catholic Religion. A resident of Altenessen @115 2/4, she was born in Gelsenkuchen, married to the miner Gisbert Wilhelm Bierbrodt in Freisenbruch. Her parents were Heinrich Schaper and Margaretha Munkelnbeck. She died the fifth of January 1893 in the morning.

It should be noted that the father, Gisbert Wilhelm Bierbrodt, was not named Hermann Gisbert Wilhelm Bierbrodt. The word preceding his name has been misinterpreted. It is Bergmann, meaning miner as in coal miner. At the point in time this legal document was filled out it was very common to list the occupation of males and to capitalize it. This plus the difficulty of reading the script at that time causes the confusion.
