Oldest child and son of R. Lee and Sidney Lovie "Love" (Denson) Parris. He married Frances "Frankie" Turner on February 7, 1945 in Columbia, South Carolina. He served honorably in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and saw action in the European Theater. After he was discharged at the end of the war, he learned the photography trade and operated a photography studio in Birmingham, Alabama and later in Statesville, North Carolina.
