He was known as R. Lee Parris, but was always referred to by the nickname of "Arley" whenever his name was written down in correspondence. Not sure how he acquired that name. He married Sidney Love Denson on 10 December 1922, in Winston County AL. He lost his left hand in a sawmill accident in the 1930s. He also lost an eye in another accident and was bitten by a rattlesnake. He grew up in Winston County AL and also lived in New Philadelphia and Lima OH with his wife and children as well as Elkhart IN. There were two children born to this union: Rudolph (born 14 July 1924 in Winston County AL and died in Statesville NC in 1972) and Shelby Suzanne (born 17 August 1939 in New Philadelphia OH). After retiring from Elkhart Brass Manufacturing in Elkhart IN (in 1964 or 1965), he and his wife moved to Statesville NC and lived in a duplex next to their son and his family. He died from colon cancer. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
