Opal Schober was born September 17, 1918 at the family farm home 6 miles west of Jud, ND, the daughter of William Schober and Vera (Simons) Schober. She received her elementary education at the local rural school and helped on the family farm.
She and John J. Zundel were married October 11, 1937 at LaMoure, ND. They made their home on his parent's farm for 3 years. They moved to a farm 3 miles north of Jud in 1941. They farmed there until their retirement in 1974 when they moved into Jud. After the death of her husband on June 29, 1997 she continued to reside in Jud until moving to Jamestown, ND. She entered Rock of Ages in 2007 and recently moved to the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck, ND.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jud, Homemakers Club and TOPS.
She is survived by 3 daughter, Karen (Norman) Kleingartner, Gackle, ND; Sandra Schmidt (LeRoy Neubauer), Dickey, ND; Peg (Lee) Mack, Bismarck, ND; 1 son, J. Neil (Marion) Zundel, Bismarck, ND; 15 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; 1 sister, Hazel (Dave) Schmierer, Lodi, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 sister, Laura, 1 grandson Jacob Long.
The funeral service will be at 10: 30 AM Tuesday September 6, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Jud with Rev. Rodney Ulmer, officiating.
The interment will be at the Jud Lutheran Cemetery in Jud, ND.
