Carmen Esther (Brown) Iglehart Hunter Reeves

Services were held for Carmen Esther Reeves, 85, longtime Stringtown resident, on Sunday, November 16, at 2 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bartt Bradford officiating, assisted by Rev. Richard Magby. Burial was in Green Meadows Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service in Atoka. A homemaker, she died Thursday, November 13, 1997 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Born February 27, 1912 at Stamford, Texas she was the daughter of Hiram Lyles Brown and Sarah Annie (White) Brown. She attended schools in Wetumka, Okla.; and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Stringtown where she served a teacher and treasurer. She was married to Bill Iglehart at Henryetta on August 31, 1931. She was later married to C. P. Hunter at Atoka on March 2, 1956. She was then married to Robert Reeves in Atoka on March 2, 1986. Preceding her in death were her parents, Hiram Lyles and Sarah Annie Brown; one brother and six sisters. Survivors include her husband, Robert Reeves of the home in Stringtown; one son, Thomas Cecil Iglehart of Bartlesville; two step-daughters, Bernice Thomas and husband Elmo and Elaine Heard and husband, Jimmy, of Milburn; one stepson, Johnny Reeves and wife, Betty, of Stringtown; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; 19 step great-grandchildren; one sister Fannie Henson of Atoka; three nieces, Kathleen Barton of Atoka; Joyce Meeks, Electra Texas, and Sharon Wheeler, Grand Prairie, Texas; a nephew Steven Wheeler, Electra, Texas; one great-nephew, David Barton; and one great-niece, Karen Henderson, both of Atoka; several other relatives and many very dear and loved friends. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Barton, Johnny Reeves, Dennis Granger, Bill Givens and Buddy Iglehart. Active pall bearers were David Barton, Billy Reeves, Jay Reeves, Ricky Heard, Ricky Givens, and Frankie Whittington. Brown's Funeral Service, 800 W. 13th (Highway 7 West), Atoka, Oklahoma.
