Susie Wester Sloan was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Albert and Nina Wester. She came to this vicinity with her people in 1874. At the age of perhaps 15, she became a member of the South Methodist Church during a meeting which was held at a school house east of town. Following the intent of that step, she led a devoutly Christian life, and died firm in the faith that looks forward to the resurrection and the life–to that time when loved ones may meet again to part no more and where there is no sorrow and no care.
Her father died some 20 years ago, but Mrs Wester survives and makes her home with Dan Wester, her son. Mrs. Sloan is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. T. Emberton and Mrs. Fred Wilson, and three brothers, William, Robert and Dan. Mr. Sloan, the stricken husband, together with other sorrowing ones, has the deep sympathy of the community in his loss. There are no children.
Mrs. Sloan was a good woman. She came of good people and lived a good life. There is aught to be feared for the future, and the sorrow is for those who are left behind. To them our deep and heartfelt sympathy is extended. Funeral services were held at the residence conducted by Rev. Thompson, pastor of the M. E. Church.
