Mr. Daniel Wester, a former well known resident of the Pleasant Hill community, died of pneumonia in Kansas City, on Sunday, August 3, 1930, at the age of 56 years, three months and 16 days. He was the son of Albert and Nina Boyd Wester, the former of whom died near Pleasant Hill in January of 1879, and the latter passing away in Pleasant Hill on February 15, 1929.

Mr. Wester was born in Central City, Nebraska, on April 18, 1874. When he was four years old his people came to Cass County and he was reared on a farm four miles east of town. On September 27, 1906, he was married at Blackburn, Missouri, to Miss Wille Ree Hopkins, and brought his bride back to the farm home in Pleasant Hill where their residence was maintained until 1915. For a while Mr. Wester was in the banking business at Worthington, Mo., subsequently locating at Marceline where the family remained until 1919. Then came to move to Kansas City, since which time Mr. Wester had been in the live stock commission business with his brother, Robert. He was widely known and popular in Kansas City live stock circles.

The downward trail in Dan Wester's life career began about 1928 when he was severely hurt in an auto accident near St. Joseph. He had never thoroughly gotten over the effects of hurts then sustained when, some nine weeks ago, his illness was complicated with a severe sinus infection, from which he suffered intensely. Then pneumonia–and the end.

The Wester family had for years been held in high esteem in this region and the death of "Dan" as he was best known, though not surprising (because of what it was known he had been enduring) came none the less as a shock to his many warm friends and constant admirers. He was a man of high character and, of course, with many ties of affectionate esteem outside the family circle, as represented in the fact that the pallbearers were all boyhood chums of the deceased and the members of the Co-Workers' Class of the Christian Church in Kansas City, where Mr. Wester was a member, attended his services.

He was survived by his widow and three children, the latter being Robert Hopkins Wester, of 1704 East 35th, Lou Ree Wester and Roy Douglas Wester, of the home. Robert Wheeler Wester, also of Kansas City, was a brother of the deceased, and there were two surviving sisters, Mrs. Lou Emberton of Goose Creek and Mrs. Kate Wilson of Los Angeles.
