Around 1856, he and his brother George moved to Union County Kentucky, where he married America Kuykendall on Dec 21, 1858. They had four daughters, Mary Eliza, Lucy Bell, Georgia and Sally. Around 1870, Peter and his family, along with several other Goodwins, came to Labette County, Kansas to make their home. Following Phoebe's death in 1875, Peter married Margaret Gilmore on 24 Dec 1877. This marriage was apparently very brief and it is not known at this time what became of her.
