He is survived by his wife, Evelyn I. (Smith) Hatfield, as well as four sons, James R. (Madonna) Hatfield, Robert A. (Marilyn) Hatfield, Richard D. (Freda) Hatfield and Larry L. (Angela) Hatfield; nine grandchildren, Tina (John) Rairden, Tony (Karen) Hatfield, Tami (Scott) Hutchison, Traci (Jeffrey) Henness, Melissa (Greg) Lovensheimer, Heidi Rittenhouse (Ronnie Gillum), Pastor Jeremy (Tracy) Hatfield, Tracy (Eric) Dzugan and Drew Hatfield; 14 great-grandchildren; and many special friends. He leaves behind a sister, Joyce Borders, of Chillicothe; a sister-in-law, Frances Smith; nieces, Sharon (Ronnie) Clary, Pat Garvic, Dixie (Tom) Denney, and Cindy Deane; nephews, Tom (Pam) Smith, Jon (Judy) Smith, Jeffrey (Donna) Smith, and Mark Smith.
Darrell was a lifelong farmer, retired from Southeastern Schools where he drove a bus and taught Drivers Education. He served as pastor of Goshen Run Church of God for 32 years and dedicated the remainder of his time reaching out to others.
Services were entrusted to Ware Funeral Home of Chillicothe, Ohio.
