Obituary Tompkinsville, Kentucky:

Harlan M. Arterberry

Harlan M. Arterberry, the twenty-three year old son of Mr. J. F.
Arterberry, of this place, died at the home of his father on East Main
street at one o'clock last Wednesday afternoon after a brief illness of
three weeks. He had been aflicted for many years with heart trouble, but
his condition never grew alarming until a few days ago when he was seized
with a violent attack of La Grippe which hastened the end.

He was popular in social circles, being a member of the Tompkinsville High
School Band as well as other student organizations.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church Thursday afternoon by
the Rev. F. E. Peden. The active pallbearers were James D. York, Clinton
Gentry, Reed Smith, Jesse York, Quinton Jonnson and Harold Walden.
Honorary pallbears were Clyde Copass, James T. Evans, Benton Jenkins,
Clinton Andrews, Ezra Maines, Tom Finley, James Ghiam and Raymond Rush.

A more beautiful tribute was never paid young Arterberry by his fellow
townsmen when Circuit Court, banks and business houses were closed for
several hours for the funeral. Besides his father, he is survived by the
following brothers and sisters: Herman and Terry Arterberry, Mayme, Bess
and Nettie Arterberry, of this place and Handly Arterberry of Pineville,
Kentucky and H. T. Arterberry of Glasgow, Ky.

He was a member of this Christian church. Interment took place in the
Bailey cemetery near Hestand, Ky.
