WEST, Andrew "Mr. Smiley" Andrew "Mr. Smiley" West, 18, of Vernon, beloved son of Donald West of Tolland and Rebecca (Pennington) West of Vernon, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, (March 11, 2009) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, Andrew lived most of his life in Tolland before moving to Vernon three years ago. He attended Rockville High School, Vocational Agricultural Program. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and he loved animals. He liked jeeps, going to Vermont and four wheeling with friends. He worked at the Charter and Aborn Farms in Ellington. His warm and friendly smile and laugh will be missed by everyone. Besides his loving parents, Andrew is survived by his beloved brother, Matt West of Tolland; his half-brother, Nicholas West of Tolland; his maternal grandmother, Barbara (Philbrick) Pennington of Colchester; his paternal grandmother, Arline (Blinn) West of Wethersfield and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Tuesday, March 17 from 4-8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 11 a.m. at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland. Burial will follow in North Cemetery, Tolland. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association , 306 Industrial Park Road, Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457 or to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
