Robert Wayne Braatz, Sr., age 71, of Eveleth, MN passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 1994, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. Robert was born on Dec. 22, 1922 to William and Luella (Hamann) Braatz in Wilson Township, Winona County, Minnesota.
He was a World War II veteran serving in the European and Asian theatres. He was an accomplished bass and guitar musician and entertained throughout the United States with various Country Music stars including Patsy Cline, George Jones, Wayland Jennings and Marty Robbins. In the late 60's, he began entertaining with his group, "The Showmen" at various nightclubs and casinos in the Las Vegas, NV area in the mid 1960's to early 1970's.
On February 22, 1972, he married Loreta Roswald in Eveleth, Minnesota. They resided there permanently.
He is survived by his first and second wives, three children, Robert (Lori) Grossell, Mondovi, WI; Randall Braatz, Los Angeles, CA and Terri (Michael) Owens, Mound, MN; 3 grandchildren and one brother, Earl (Betty) Braatz, Santa Ana, CA.
He was preceded in death by his third wife, Loreta (Roswold) Braatz; parents, William and Luella Braatz; brothers, Arthur, Harold, Wilmer, Charles, Clarence and Franklin; sisters, Margaret Rose, Helen Kunda, Dorothy Klagge, Florence Dionysius, Marian Johnson and Betty Czaplewski.
