Obituary - Amherst Bee
Mrs. John Brown, one of the oldest residents in the vicinity of Swormsville, succumbed Sunday, July 18, 1926, after an illness of some time. She attained the advanced age of 82 years. Her husband, the late John Brown preceded her in death in April of 1925, at the age of 88 years.
Though a native of Germany, she had been in this country 54 years, all of which had been spent in Amherst. Her maiden name was Phillippena Yung.
Surviving to honor the memory of a good, Christian mother are five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Edward Blarr, Mrs. Frances Lang, Mrs. Charles Weatherbee, and Katherine, Anna, John and Joseph Brown, also eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The requiem mass for the repose of her soul was solemnized Wednesday morning at St. Mary's church by Rev. Fr. Dehlinger. Burial was made in the Swormville Catholic cemetery, with John Herberger, Matt Leising, August Thuman, Frank Regnet, Frank Brownscheidel and Henry Kieffer as bearers.
The deceased was a faithful member of St. Ann's society, which attended in a body.
