Funeral services for Catherine Howard Pridgen, 96 of Crockett, will be held 10:00 AM Monday, August 17, 2015, at First United Methodist Church Grapeland, with Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial will follow in Grapeland City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mrs. Pridgen passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Winfield Nursing home in Crockett.

She was born November 1, 1918, in Grapeland, Texas, Houston County, to Jim and Maude Howard, long time residents of Grapeland. Catherine was married to Joe Pridgen on November 26, 1937. She graduated from Grapeland High School in 1936, as Valedictorian of her class and later attended TSCU College in Denton, Texas, for one semester. Catherine was an active lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Grapeland, active and charter member of the Grapeland Garden Club; a 50 year lifetime member and former worthy Matron of The Order of The Eastern Star, Chapter 120 of Grapeland. She was also active in the Grapeland Senior Nutrition Center for many years for the Birthday Luncheons, and was an active member of the Rebekah Class of The First United Methodist Church of Grapeland.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Pridgen and her daughter, Linda Pridgen Wallace; her five sisters, Dorothy Ann Looker, Hazel Jones, Lucille Rester, Rosalie Branstetter, ad Helen Copeland and brother, Bill Howard and Clifford Howard.

Pallbearers will be Tom Gates, Charles Blair, Paul Huff, Milton Davis, Bill Howard and Ron Boyce. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Pridgen and Walter Scott.
