OBITUARY BARBARA PENMAN COFFMAN
Published Standard Examiner
March 21, 2006
WEST WEBER - Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2006. She was born on January 3, 1921 in Salt Lake City, UT to Mary B. Reid and Charles Penman. She married Daniel P. Coffman November 17, 1945 in Salt Lake City. He died August 23, 1973. They had lived in Colorado and California and then returned to West Weber, UT.

During World War II she worked at the Ogden Arsenal. She had also worked in the snack bar at the North Salt Lake Livestock Auction.

She and her husband enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, horses and most outside activities. Together they built a cabin in Scare Canyon, which the family still enjoys today. Her hobbies have included ceramics, sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed going to garage sales, Wendover and Jackpot. She was a member of the Francis Peak Gem and Mineral Club and enjoyed rock hunting, rock cutting and making jewelry, including belt buckles. She enjoyed her TV programs and visits from family and friends. She was fondly known by many neighborhood kids as "Aunt B" and the name stayed with her through the years, used by almost everyone.

In the last few years, although she continued to live independently in her home, she was lovingly cared for by her sister, Geri and brother-in-law, Max and their four daughters and families, who would like to express their gratitude to Caring Hands of Hospice, especially Pat and Jason. Also, a special thanks to Angie and the neighbors who did little things that always meant a lot and to Dr. DeRemer and Veta.

Barbara is survived by her son and his wife, Charles and Teri Holbrook, CA., four grandchildren, Donna and Murry McLeod, WA., Ken and Kelly Holbrook, CA., Chris and Judy Holbrook, CA., Katie and Neil Bramwell, CA., and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Johnson of Salt Lake City and Geraldine (Max) Loock of West Weber, and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much and spent good times with her as they grew up.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, her parents and a nephew, Michael Loock.

Shared times, shared lives, shared hearts. We love you.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Barbara's name to Caring Hands Hospice, 3579 N. 2175 E, Layton, UT, 84040.
