One of Mr. Todd's lifelong passions was serving the Loris Fire Department, he began his service on April 16, 1956 and continued for the next 55 years, 4 months and 3 days, serving as Chief for nineteen years. He was like a father figure to many of the fireman, offering his support and expertise throughout the years. He will be remembered most by his family as a devoted husband, a loving father and proud grandfather. Survivors include his son, Charlie Burroughs Todd and wife, Cara of Loris; one daughter Serita Todd Giunta and husband Frank of Melbourne, Fl; and three grandchildren, Nathan Charles Todd, Madalyn Reese Todd and Will Duncan Todd.
Mr. Todd was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Margery Burroughs Todd; three brothers, W Herman Todd, J Roscoe Todd and J Layton Todd; and two sisters, Bertha Todd Paul and Cleo Todd.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday August 21, 2011 at Loris First Baptist Church with committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens. Dr. Larry Turner and Rev. Jeremy Todd will officiate services. Visitation will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Hardwick Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Loris Fire Department.
