At that time they moved to another farm in Scott Township. Sometime before 1960, they moved into the City of Champaign but by the time of his death was living in Sidney, Illinois.
He was a farmer for most of his early adult life. Later in life he was a carpenter.

He passed away at the age of 60 at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, 18 Feb 1970 at Mercy Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, 21 Feb 1970 at Heath and Sons Funeral Home. The pastor Walter Bussert presided over the services. He was buried in Sec 13, Lot 33, Sp 1 of Eastlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois.
