Florabell Hooks, 96, of Freeport, passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at 3:20 a.m., in Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell. She was born April 6, 1915, in Freeport, to the late William A. and Daisy (Booher) Metzler. Mrs. Hooks was a lifelong resident of Freeport Borough. Florabell was a member of Faith Community Church, Freeport. Mrs. Hooks is survived by her two sons and her two daughters, Peggy (Jim) Croyle, of Mamont, Sherry (Gary) Cullen, of Lower Burrell, Fred (Carol) Ehrman, of Leechburg, and Gary Ehrman, of Freeport; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mona Jean Harbison, of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents mentioned above; her first husband, Fred W. Ehrman, in 1963; her second husband, Carl B. Hooks, in 1984; her daughter, Norma Leslie; two brothers, Raymond and Floyd W. Metzler; and her six sisters, Bessie Hartley, Irene Coleman, Helen Bures, June Howard, Pansy Mitchell and Dorothy Check. Family and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, 724-295-3100. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Community Church, Freeport, with her pastor, the Rev. Chuck Edwards, officiating. All funeral attendees are asked to please go directly to the church. Private burial will follow in Sarverville Cemetery, Buffalo Township.
