JAMES CLAY PADGETT
James Clay Padgett, 85, of Big Island, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Lynchburg General Hospital. His wife was the late Ada P. Padgett.
Born in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Arthur B. and Laura Casey Padgett. He was retired district service manager for Otis Elevator Co. and a member of Big Island United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one son, James C. Padgett of Williamsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Laura Mae McMillan and Mrs. Hilda P. Jones, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers*, Arthur M. Padgett of Jarrett; one sister, Laura P. Butler of Norfolk; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Friday at 2 p.m. in Big Island Cemetery by the Rev. Ashby Lazenby.
