Arthur McDaniel Padgett, 92, of 163 Skyview Circle, Verona, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1993, in King's Daughter's Hospital.

Mr. Padgett was born May 11, 1901 in Coleman Falls, a son of the late Arthur Beverly and Laura McDaniel Casey Padgett.

He had retired as a retail merchant in Bedford and Big Island, and was a former member of the Bedford Farm Bureau. Mr. Padgett was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where he had served as Vestryman and as superintendent of the Sunday School. He was a former member, deacon, and Sunday School superintendent of the Sedalia Baptist Church. Mr. Padgett was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine Seay Padgett; a daughter, Mrs. James E. Sanderson of Verona; a son, Henry Arthur Padgett of Cedar Hill, Texas; a brother, Paulus Ashby Padgett of Jarratt; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Friday in Sedalia Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Louis Fischer. Burial was in Big Island Cemetery.
