Alberta Maud Beckman Mason was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Beckman, longtime residents of the Arthur community. As a young woman, Mrs. Mason taught in the country schools, later teaching in the city schools. About 22 years ago, she was united in marriage to Dr. J.E. Mason and to this union 3 children, Helen, Georgia and Edward were born. Dr. Mason died March 23, 1913. Along with her children who survive her are the following brothers and sisters: Atty. W.H. Beckman of Chicago; Mrs. Grace Bigelow of Chicago; Mrs. Maggie Reeder of Tuscola; Mrs. Golda Patton of Potomac; F.B. Beckman of Arthur and Mrs. Flo Eads of Arthur.
Mrs. Mason was very active in church, club and lodge work, but above all her interest lied in her home and family. Kind, generous, thoughtful, helpful and of a wonderfully cheerful disposition, she had many friends and she will be greatly missed by her community. Mrs. Mason was 47 years, 2 months and 2 days old, having been born on September 3, 1876. Her obituary appeared in the local Arthur newspaper.
