Mrs. Golda Jesse Patton, former resident of Arthur, and a sister of Mrs. John D. Eads of this town, died at her home at Urbana. She had suffered a stroke about 45 minutes before her death. Her sudden death was a shock to her many friends in the Arthur community. Mrs. Patton was a prominent resident of Urbana, being active in civic and social affairs. She was second reader in the Urbana Christian Science church and a past worthy matron in the Urbana Eastern Star lodge. She was also past president of the Urbana Woman's club.
Golda Patton was born at Arthur, January 25, 1880, the daughter of William and Rebecca Beckman. She resided in Arthur until about 50 years ago when she moved to Tuscola where she remained until moving to Urbana 15 years ago. While in Arthur she was a member of the local chapter of O.E.S. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Fred Beckman; two sisters, Mrs. Alberta Mason and Mrs. Frank Reeder. Surviving are her three daughters, Miss Helen Patton at home, Mrs. D.H. Brewer of Chattanooga and Mrs. James Colbert of Rock Island. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. John Eads of Arthur and Mrs. Grace Bigelow of Jacksonville, and a brother, Colonel William H. Beckman, of Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral services were conducted at the Renner funeral home in Urbana under the auspices of the Christian Science church. Burial was in the Arthur cemetery. Her obituary appeared in the local Arthur newspaper on December 13, 1951.
