Newton C. Stepp, 85, of Rimbersburg, formerly of Butler, died yesterday morning at the Grandview Convalescent Home, Clarion.
Born at Warren, PA., April 1, 1886, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary Sarver Stepp.
He was employed by Armco at Butler, where he had worked as a crane operator in the slab mill, with over 55 years service, before retiring in 1955.
He had lived in Rimersburg for he past 14 years, and before that had been a resident of the Butler area. He was a former fireman and brakeman on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen L. Grant Stepp; two sons, Arthur Stepp of Cleveland, Ohio, and Russell Stepp with the U.S. Naval Air Force in Pensacola, Fla.; six daughters, Mrs. Earl (Ann) Hahn of Butler, Mrs. Robert (Sue) Shaderline of Oil City, Mrs. Harry (Betty) Albert of Butler, Mrs. James G. (Margaret)Miller of Rimbersburg, and Mrs. Marcella Kennedy and Mrs. Milford (Beverly) Ekis, both of Butler; 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren; a brother Russell C. "Dee" Stepp of Cabot; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hayes, Mrs. William (Lizzie) Sanders and Mrs. Edward (Hazel) Nauman, all of Butler; and several nieces and newphews.
A son, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends of Newton C. Stepp of Rimbersburg, formerly of Butler, who died Tuesday, June 15, 1971, will be received at the J. D. Miller Funeral Home, Rimersburg Wednesdy and Thursday. Funeral services will be Friday from the funeral home. Burial will be in Rimersburg Cemetery.
