Alice was born in Chicago, IL on Dec 29, 1922 the daughter of Harry Felix McCabe and Mary Josephine Carlin McCabe. She attended parochial school on Chicago's south side and earned her teacher's certificate. She became a flight attendant for Capitol Airways where she met her future husband's sister, Betty Celeste Proctor.
DL and Alice were married in Chicago on April 19, 1947 but settled in Lexington, KY the location of DL's equine veterinary practice. They reared seven "lively" children, attended countless Bryan Station High School football and baseball games and watched all of them go on to college. Alice was a great fan of the game of golf as both a player at the Lexington Country Club and as an avid spectator. She also donated her time to the local library system to read books to the disadvantaged. A long time parishioner of Christ the King, St Peter, St Paul and the (Paris) Church of the Annunciation, she passed the spirit of her faith along to all her progeny. Visitation will be held at the Milward -Broadway on Mon Aug 22nd from 6-8 pm and a funeral mass Tues Aug 23rd at 1pm at St Paul Catholic Church in Lexington. Interment will take place after a gravesite ceremony at 2 pm in Lexington's Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
