George E. Busby, Sr. age 90 of Waco passed away Monday morning May 2, 2011 at a local nursing facility. Memorial Services are planned for a later date. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors observed.

George was born on January 9, 1921 in Bishop, Texas to Charles and Pearl Busby. He grew up in Riesel attending school there joining the US Army before he graduated. He served in the South Pacific and Philippines' during World War II and later during the Korean conflict. He was awarded four Battle Stars, a Purple Heart and many other awards and ribbons. He served in the 8th Combat Engineer Battalion attached to the 1st Calvary Division. He retired in 1962 after serving more 23 years. He married Kishiko Takae on January 25, 1954 in Kobe Japan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Pearl; 2 sons, George E. Busby Jr. and A.C. Busby and 5 brothers and 1 sister.

He is survived by his wife Kishiko of 57 years, two granddaughters Lacresia Vanya of Louisiana and Crystal Busby of Waco; three great grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews as well as their children whom he loved very much.
