Gilbert D. Austin was the son of Frank Austin and Fannie Townsend. He married Alice Mary Connor on 26 Nov 1919 in Lake County, Ohio. Alice was the daughter of Mark Connor and Bridget Elizabeth Nestor. They had no children. He did have a son and daughter from a previous marriage, Wilfred Austin and Mildred Austin McDonnell.
