Death Claimed A. R. Frazer Tuesday.
Was Active in Business, Educational Affairs of Community – Suffered Paralytic Stroke May 3rd

Death threw its icy cloak around the prostrate form of A. R. Frazer, aged 56 years, prominent local citizen, about eight o’clock Tuesday morning. Following an illness of three weeks, which began on May 3rd, when he suffered a slight stroke of paralysis and from which he could not rally. Instead of making gains towards regaining his health his condition grew gradually worse and on Sunday, May 17, a second stroke reduced greatly his already ebbing strength. He remained in an almost unconscious condition since that time, when in the early and busy hours of Tuesday morning death stole into the darkened bed-chamber to end his earthly pilgrimage.
The deceased was born at Buffalo and grew to manhood in that community. He was a member of a large family, all like him, receiving their early religious training within the walls of Lebanon Presbyterian church and from scholars who passed that way. He grew to young manhood and later moved to this city, where he made his home continuously since that time. He began his labors in the mercantile firm when coming to LaFayette and for a number of years he followed this course, working for McGehee-Driver, R. W. Allen & Co., and later in the mercantile business of his own.
He joined the church in early life at historic old Lebanon Church, later moving his membership to the LaFayette Church, where he was a member of the official board for many years, serving in such capacity at the time of his death. While active in religious affairs he was also interested in educational and fraternal affairs of the community, serving as a member of the school board for several years.
Funeral service was held from the home of the deceased at 10:30 o’clock today with Rev. F. H. McElroy, pastor of the local Presbyterian church, and being assisted by Rev. W. P. Mann, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Opelika; Rev. J. W. McBrayer and Rev. C. M. Meiere, pastors of the local Methodist and Baptist churches. Interment was in the LaFayette cemetery. Pall bearers were: C. A. Spence, Lee Griffin, W. T. McRae, Al Smith, A. W. Yates, C. E. Fuller, M. R. Buckalew and C. W. Lowe.
Surviving the deceased are a widow, Mrs. Mamie Hollingsworth Frazer; four sons, John T. Frazer, Opelika; D. H., Julian and A. G. Frazer, LaFayette; four brothers, W. H. Frazer, Charlotte, N.C.; E. C. Frazer, Buffalo; J. F. Frazer, LaFayette, and B. R. Frazer, Charlotte, N.C.
