Daughter of August and Albertena (Brueggeman) Lietz, ruth married Clarence Pennings on September 18, 1948. They owned and operated Pennings Supper Club at Twelve Corners from 1957 until their retirement in 1979.

She enjoyed following the Brewers, Badgers and Packers and looked forward to winters in Florida. Mrs. Pennings was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Center.

She was predeceased in death by a son-in-Law, Wes Riehl; great granddaughter Katelyn; five brothers and five sisters.
