Gilbert E. "Doc" McKinney, 89, of Neoga died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan 22 , at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County. He was born Sept. 16, 1899 in Neoga, son of Dr. Henry P. and Mary Jane (Hines) McKinney. Surviving are his nephew and niece, Charles and Karen McKinney of Neoga. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Neoga. Preceding him in death were six brothers and one sister. Services for Mr. McKinney were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Lake officiating. Mrs. Kay Heaton was the organist. Songs were "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Lawrence Blake, Fred B. Peters, Charles Albin, Harold Hall, Wayne Johnston, and Raymond Smith. Burial was in the Neoga Cemetery. Memorials: First Christian Church of Neoga.
