Reinhardt Rothschild is the oldest son of Kathinka Luja and Adolph Rothschild. He had three siblings: August, Wilhelmina, and Edward Otto (E.O. Roth). By the time he married Bertha Johnson in 1898, he had begun going by the name of George R. Rothschild. They had five children together: Irene (md. Anthony April), Elsie (md. Harold Jehne), Augusta (md. Harry Fabry), George (md (1) Mary Rickey and (2) Rose Hart), and Roy, who died in infancy. Reinhardt and Bertha divorced in 1920. Bertha eventually married Fred Polkinghorne. Reinhardt is buried in the Polkinghorn Family Plot of the Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in St. Louis, MO. He is the only Rothschild in the entire cemetery. In the plot with him are his sister-in-law Louise, his daughter Augusta Rothschild Fabry, and his daughter Elsie Rothschild Jehne. His headstone and his death certificate list his first name as George.
