Obituary of
Mrs. Francis Catron

Francis Ann Catron, daughter of Wesley Hale and Malinda Elizabeth Snellings, was born on August 12, 1886, in Miller County, Mo. Her entire life was spent in the vicinity of her birth place up to the time of her marriage to William Edward Catron of Miller County, Mo. in 1903. About 1909, the couple moved to Kansas where they lived for 34 years and then in 1939 they moved to Altoona.

They were the parents of 11 children. With a large family to look after, Mrs. Catron was kept very busy as a housewife and mother. A considerable portion of their married life was lived on a farm.

Mrs. Catron has been in nursing homes since 1963 when she broke her hip. She has resided in homes in Altoona, Des Moines, Baxter, and then most recently back in Altoona when she became a resident of Altoona Manor on April 3. Her passing occurred very suddenly the morning of December 22. She had been a member of the Altoona United methodist church for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1960; two sons; Lloyd James and Francis Earl. She is survived by six sons; Ralph Catron of Des Moines; Wesley Catron of LaBelle, Mo.; William Catron of Altoona; Lowell Arthur Catron of Ewing, Mo., Harold Catron of Indianola and Robert Catron of St. Louis park, Minn.; three daughters; Martha
(Mrs. Robert Michael) of Altoona; Roberta (Mrs. Uwe Frank) of Union City, Calif.; and Mrs. Mildred Warren of Concord, Calif.; 43 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a brother George hale of Laredo, Mo., and four sisters; Mrs. Mary Calkin of Kaiser, Mo., Mrs. Elizabeth Hammond of Laredo, Mo., Mrs. Stella Huddleston of Ponca City, Okla., and Mrs. Bertha Harper of Stoutland, Mo.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Everett Pencock, pastor of the Altoona United Methodist Church on Monday, Dec. 24. Interment was made in the Altoona cemetery.
