By 1885, he was living in Monona County IA with his father and farming. On Jan 7 1892, he married Emma Newcome. Three children were born in IA before they moved to KS around 1898. Four more children were born in KS and two sons, William and Roy, died there.
By 1906, John and Emma moved to Burlington, IA where John started a small farm and began truck farming. Their last two children, Mary and Clarence, were born there.
John was a quiet, industrious man. He died in 1912 leaving a wife and seven children. He was 54 years of age.
