Art, as he was known by everyone, was born June 10, 1925, in Bangor, the son of Arthur and Veena (Hosges) Haney, both of whom preceded him in passing. Art was also preceded in passing by three brothers, Wesley, Leslie and Gerald.
Art married Carole Willetts on Dec. 17, 1982. She survives, along with two daughters, Diana (Scott) Munson of Roswell, Ga., and Kelly Sue (Brett) Smith of Lawrence; four sons, Jeffory (Debbie) Haney, Ronald (Debbie) Haney, both of Dawsonville, Ga., Roger (JoAnn) Bloom of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., and David (Barbara) Bloom of Boynton Beach, Fla. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine (Steve) Ziemek of Paw Paw and Ilene (John) McDaniels of Orlando, Fla.; and a brother, Doug (Nina) Haney of Salome, Ariz.
Art lived his entire life in the Lawrence area except for the period he spent in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a longtime member of Hess Eastman Post 174 of the American Legion in Lawrence. He owned and operated the Red Arrow Bar for a few years; however, he farmed his own farm for the majority of his life.
As Art wished, cremation has taken place. Arthur will be laid to rest at Hill Cemetery in the veterans section at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. Pastor Ben Bowater of Red Arrow Ministries will officiate, followed by full military rites conducted by Hess Eastman Post 174.
