Died in the village of Argyle, Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 1889, Miss Etta Rogers, aged 21 years. The deceased, who was a daughter of M.M. Rogers of Browntown was born in Lena, Illinois, and when but an infant her parents removed to Iowa, where she remained until about fourteen years of age, her mother having died when she was but seven years old, thus early in life being deprived of maternal guidance, and a mother's loving hand to sustain and direct her in the pathway of life.
On leaving her Iowa home, she returned to her birthplace and lived with her grandfather for three years, when she removed to Browntown residing there until last April, when she came to Argyle, where she has since remained, making many acquaintances and endearing herself in the hearts of her associates. She had been ill about two weeks, and though every human agency was brought to bear, her case was hopeless, and her merry laughter, which always seemed contagious, has been hushed, while her spirit has joined her loved ones on the other shore.
The funeral was held in the ME church on Wednesday, Rev. T.J. Lewis officiating.
