As recorded in the book "In Remembrance" Elmer and Sarah eloped, and moved to Salina, Saline, Kansas. There her brother Frank and her Aunt Wilahmine (Minnie) Tressin lived. They came back to Michigan sometime later to raise their family. In 1927, Elmer owned land north of M-59 adjacent to the present day Township Buildings in White Lake.
