August's two sisters came to America first. We are estimating they came about seven years before August and his mother came over from Germany together. According to Ohio Census data, the Albers were from Hanover Germany. He is also reported to be from New Kirchen near Huelden Hanover Germany.

August married Elizabeth Ording Deppen after her first husband died.

August and Elizabeth had a few children including Henry Albers

According to the 1880 census August (40) was living in Maria Stein with his mother, Mary Albers (75), his wife, Elizabeth Albers (38), and children Mary (14) Deppen, Elizabeth Deppen (later Sister Maxima) (12), Henry (10), "Dina" Bernadine (8) and Anna (4 months).

A loose translation from August's obituary in the Minster Paper (which was written largely in German at the time):

August Albers lived in Maria Stein. He died on a Monday. He lived alone on the farm. Everyone knew him. He was 77 when he died and he was a successful farmer in the area. He died of old age. He had a good life and he leaves 2 or 3 cows on the farm. The funeral was on Thursday morning May 3 in Maria Stein. August is buried in St. John's cemetery.
