Alberto was born to Daniel W and Angeline Seybolt Barkley. He was married May 5, 1880, in Coopers to Isadore Dunklee, the daughter of Eli F and Jennie J Dunklee. He worked and resided in Steuben County his entire life, primarily a woodworker by trade, working at one time for the Painted Post Building Company. In his later years, he was janitor at the Painted Post High School until the death of his wife. He then lived with his daughter Jane Riddle, wife of George Riddle. He was a Baptist by faith and was for many years a member of the Carpenters' Union. He died at Arnot Ogen Hospital in Elmira from complications following a cataract removal. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his daughter Retta, and his brothers Freddie and Ansel. His surviving descendants were daughter Jane (Barkley) Riddle, wife of George Riddle; son Fred Wilson Barkley, husband of Margaret (Emery) Barkley; granddaughters (daus. of Fred and Margaret) Dora, Beulah and Marjorie (Midge); and granddaughters (daus. of Jane and George) Mary Jane and Margaret Dora Riddle. He was the second oldest of eight children, and was survived by five sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
