Melvin W. Roach Sr., 85, of West Columbia died Friday, April 28, 1995, at Holzer Medical Center.
Born October 26, 1909 in Hartford, he was a son of the late Samuel and Olivea J. (Gibbs) Roach. He was a coal miner, a farmer and attended True Gospel Church.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Blake and Jane Bennette; and a son-in-law, Walter McDaniel.

Survivors include his wife, May Francis (Rickard) Roach of West Columbia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ella Jane McDaniel of Middleport and Betty L. and James Acree of Pomeroy; a son and daughter-in-law, Melvin W. Jr. and Sue Roach of West Columbia; a brother, Floyd T. Roach of Roanoke, VA; a sister, May Wamsley of Clifton; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the Hillside Baptist Church in Pomeroy with Rev. Don Roach and Dr. James R. Acree Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Zuspan Cemetery. Friends may call at the Foglesong Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
