The Anthon Herald, 22 June 1966, page 1: Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Thayer, 89, of Anthon were held Thursday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. A.M. Conlon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of the Walter Funeral Home. Mrs. Thayer was born January 29, 1877, at Champaign, Illinois, and died Monday night, June 13, 1966, at her home in Anthon following a long illness. She went with her parent to Oto and lived in the Oto and Anthon communities the remainder of her life. The former Margaret Catherine Eisenmenger, she was married to Edward Thayer in 1899 at Oto. He preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society of the church. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Cecelia Thayer of Anthon; two sons, Bernard of Anthon and Joseph of Sioux City; three brothers, Paul Eisenmenger of Cherokee, Andy Eisenmenger of Graceville, Minnesota, and Jake Eisenmenger of Milbank, South Dakota; one sister, Clara Eisenmenger of Cherokee; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
