Private services for Bernard J. Thayer, 65, who died Monday were held Wednesday afternoon at the Walter Chapel in Anthon with Rev. Donald F. Johnson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Bernard Jeffrey Thayer, son of Edward and Margaret Eisenmenger Thayer, was born August 7, 1905, at Anthon. In 1926 he married Alta Eberwine in Sioux City. He was a lifelong resident of Anthon and operated a furniture and appliance business for 46 years.

On June 1, 1948, he married Wanda Wohlers at Elk Point, South Dakota. He was a member of the Anthon Community Club.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Don (Muriel) Lind of Garden Grove, California, Vickie of Sioux City, and Kimberly of Anthon, a son, Bernard Joseph of Indianapolis, Indiana, a sister, Miss Cecelia Thayer of Anthon and six grandsons. He was preceded by his parents, a sister and a brother.
